The Neighborhood Mount Vernon Baltimore's Mount Vernon, just to the north of downtown, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Along the streets of the neighborhood are classic homes, buildings and hotels. Its many monuments and galleries make this the cultural center of the city. Be sure to visit Lambda Rising and the Gay and Lesbian Community Center at the retail hub along Chase and Read Streets.
