The Town of Triana

Triana
Triana,
Alabama
In a forgotten corner of Madison County lies this little town of just under 500. Once a
thriving port, it lies in neglect while the rest of the area flourishes.
But a couple of decades ago Triana was given the dubious monicker of America's Most
Polluted Town due to chemical run-off from nearby industries on the Redstone Arsenal.
Even the town hall is lifeless in the middle of the day. The daycare center is silent.
There is only one place of business in the city.
It's not hard to imagine these parks once filled with laughing children. Now the only sound
is that of the wind winding around the rotting and forgotten equipment.
Few speak of the house on the ABC streets. When, years ago, the owner started renovations he
discovered the body of a girl, beaten and raped before being disposed of in a shallow grave
under the building.
To this day, screams, breaking glass, and moving doors are often experienced coming from the
abandoned building. But now the house is hidden. And as the town dies, so do the legends.
