The Old Saint Louis Couthouse was begun in 1828 but was enlarged and expanded over the
years.
It served the city well for over 100 years until it was finally closed in 1930.
The building is now operated by the National Park Service as a historic site. They conduct
tours and maintain the structure's museums.
Their employees also patrol the building at night. The National Park Service will not
confirm the stories, but some employees have reported strange happenings in the building at
night.
They say that doors will open and close and lights will turn themselves on and off while no
one else is around.
One night, the noises were so terrifying that a man on patrol called the police and waited
outside for them. The police officers searched the building- and found no one.
The building, in the shadow of downtown Saint Louis's skyscrapers, is open to the public
during the day. But it seems that the most interesting displays happen at night.
