Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania
In Pittsburgh's warehouse district known as "The Strip" is the six story building that today
houses the John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center.
Previously, the over a century old building served as the headquarters for the Chautauqua
Lake Ice Company.
Tragedy struck on 09 February 1898 when a fire broke out. Soon after, there was an explosion.
Many people died.
Today, many staff members report strange noises and voices in the renovated halls of the
building.
Most reports of phenomena are on the fifth floor and around the loading dock. The spirits
are even said to interact with the exhibits in these areas.
The center puts Pittsburgh's history on public display, but there is a reminder of more
historical and, unfortunately, tragic moments in the building.
