The day started out sunny and warm. The gay youth group I was a member of was in charge of
the games. Boogie, a local club owner, showed up with some games of his own. He saw our
set up and took his toys and went home. Great start to the day.
Then, the gray clouds moved in. The tears started falling down onto us. We were all soaked
before long. No problem. Then, my recent ex from Birmingham showed up and he and his band
were actually scheduled as one of the acts. Then, this dude showed up in a hand made pride
shirt. But you know what, it was fantastic!
Nothing is more tragic than a drenched drag queen (especially when her heels get stuck in the
mud,) so after making the best of the situation, the festivities were moved to Club Upscale.
There, awards were given and many younger folks got to get their first look into a real live
gay club. So, what. Not everything went perfect. But we still had fun. And that's all
that matters.
